Eyelid ptosis or blepharoptosis is manifested by the drooping or lowering of the upper eyelid of at least one eye, thus occluding part of the eyeball. This drooping of the eyelids can have multiple causes, one of the most frequent being an abnormal or incomplete functioning of the muscle responsible for lifting the eyelid, the objective of this type of surgery is to elevate the eyelid and thus "clear" the affected visual field.
To determine the most appropriate procedure, the ophthalmologist must take into account a series of factors (age, eyelid height, muscle strength...).
