Corneal scan
Corneal topography
The cornea is the first of the lenses we have to focus on objects correctly. It is not a perfect sphere, but has areas of different thickness and elevation.
By means of topography, we obtain a map that graphically shows us these differences, both on the external and internal sides of the cornea. It is an essential test to determine the exact state of the cornea and to diagnose diseases such as keratoconus or any other condition related to this structure of the eye.
The test is very quick: 1 minute per eye. The patient must look at a light and hold their eye open for a few seconds. While the machine captures a series of images that will be used to create a coloured topographical map like the one shown in this image.
