Ensuring a healthy cornea
Endothelial cells are found in the innermost layer of the cornea and are of great importance as they are responsible for maintaining the transparency of the cornea itself. It is important to ensure that we have a good density and quality of endothelial cells. This will ensure that our cornea is in good condition, which is linked to our visual acuity.
The endothelial cell count is carried out using a specular microscope by means of a single shot. In this way, we obtain the image shown below, which shows the size, density and shape of these cells.
